Developed by Joseph Pilates nearly 100 years ago as a rehabilitation program, Pilates is a total body work-out centered on strengthening the core muscles of the back and abdominals. The Pilates repertoire is performed on various apparatus designed by Joseph Pilates, such as the Cadillac and the Reformer. Exercises may also utilize the mat and various props such as Therabands and the Magic Circle.

Nearly everyone can benefit from the improved posture and spinal alignment, improved balance and proprioception, and increased muscle strength and flexibility that Pilates offers.
